Tbilisi (GBC) - Borrowers of microfinance organizations are unpretentious compared to banks.

Only 50 complaints have been filed against 31 MFOs at the Central Bank. 40 out of 50 complaints are about pawn loans. MFOs clients have no complaints about other loan products.

In terms of service, customers mainly complain about the attitude of the administration. They are also dissatisfied with the penalties and commission fees imposed for overdue payments.

According to the statistics of the National Bank of Georgia for the last reporting month (February), the lender reviewed 12 complaints and considered them unfounded. The review of 23 complaints has not yet been completed.

The share of pawnshops in the MFOs portfolio is 1.2 billion GEL (714,000) pawnshop loans in the total portfolio of up to 2 billion GEL (809,000 loans).

The currently available statistics also include Crystal and MBC, which are already operating in the banking market.

The sector has received 42 million GEL in revenue from fines in 2024.
