Tbilisi (GBC) - The American Association of Wine Economists (AAWE) publishes average export prices and export volumes of Georgian wine for 2000-2023 based on information from UN Comtrade. According to the study, the lowest average export price of 1 liter of Georgian wine is in Poland, amounting to 6.78 GEL, where 6.7% of total Georgian wine exports go. The next country is Russia, where the most wine is exported by volume - 69.6% of total exports. The average price of 1 liter of Georgian wine exported in this country is quite low and totals to 7.26 GEL.

The average export price of Georgian wine is highest in the US market, where the price of 1 liter of Georgian wine exported from Georgia is 16.65 GEL. However, only 1% of Georgian wine is exported by volume here.

  • USA: 1 liter of Georgian wine export price - 16.65 GEL, volume - 1%.
  • Germany: 1 liter of Georgian wine export price - 12.54 GEL, volume - 1.1%;
  • China: 1 liter of Georgian wine export price - 9.92 GEL, volume - 3.5%;
  • Kazakhstan: 1 liter of Georgian wine export price - 8.31 GEL, volume - 3.3%;
  • Belarus: 1 liter of Georgian wine export price - 7.69 GEL, volume - 3.1%;
  • Ukraine: 1 liter of Georgian wine export price - 7.50 GEL, volume - 5.8%;
  • Russia: 1 liter of Georgian wine export price - 7.26 GEL, volume 69.6%;
  • Poland: Export price of 1 liter of Georgian wine - 6.78 GEL, volume - 6.7%;
  • All: Export price of 1 liter of Georgian wine - 7.77 GEL

According to Geostat, in January-October 2024, a total of $6.37 million worth of wine was exported from Georgia to the US. In 2023 as a whole, $5.48 million worth of wine was sold in this country.

As for Russia, based on Geostat's foreign trade portal, in January-October 2024, $167.58 million worth of wine was exported from Georgia to Russia. In 2023 as a whole, $173.88 million worth of wine was sold in Russia.

According to Geostat, the following companies exported the largest amount of wine to Russia in 2024 (companies are not ranked by ranking):

  • JSC Badagoni;
  • LLC "Tsinandali Dzveli Marani";
  • LLC GVMT Group;
  • LLC Alaverdi Alcoholic Beverage Company;
  • LLC Askaneli Brothers;
  • Dugladze Wine Company LLC;
  • Kakheti Traditional Winery LLC;
  • Kakheti Wine Cellar LLC;
  • Besini Company LLC;
  • Shalvino LLC.

In 2024, an unprecedented amount of grapes was processed within the framework of the harvest - up to 320 thousand tons, which is approximately 45% higher than the same period last year.

In total, 600 large wine-producing companies, medium and small wineries were involved in the 2024 grape processing process.

According to the National Wine Agency, of the main industrial varieties processed:

  • Rkatsiteli - 136 thousand tons;
  • Saperavi - 130 thousand tons;
  • Kakheti Mtsvane - 5.9 thousand tons;
  • Aleksadreul/Mujuretuli, Racha - 1618 tons;
  • Tsolikauri, Tsageri - 753 tons.

Prices for 1 kg of grapes of the main industrial varieties:

  • Rkatsiteli - within 1.00 to 1.20 GEL;
  • Saperavi - within 1.50-1.60 GEL;
  • Aleksandreuli/Mujuretuli - 8 GEL;
  • Tsolikauri (Tvishi) - 8 GEL;
  • Tsolikauri from Tsageri - 5 GEL.
