Tbilisi (GBC) - In January-October 2023 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 1 762.0 million with 34.5 percent of total exports. 

The exports of copper ores and concentrates totaled USD 450.9 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 8.8 percent. The exports of wine of fresh grapes occupied the third place standing at USD 217.3 million and constituting 4.3 percent of the total exports.

The top import commodities in January-October 2023 were motor cars, whose imports equaled USD 2 589.8 million (20.4 percent of the total imports). The petroleum and petroleum oils followed in the list with USD 928.6 million (7.3 percent of imports). The medicaments put up in measured doses were third in the top import commodity list with USD 445.2 million (3.5 percent of imports).

In January-October 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 17 785.4 million, 16.2 percent higher to the same period of 2022. The exports equaled USD 5 102.3 million (12.5 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 12 683.1 million (17.8 percent higher). The negative trade balance was USD 7 580.9 million in January-October 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 42.6 percent.
