Tbilisi (GBC) - In January-April 2025 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 7.7 billion, 15.3 percent higher year-on-year. The exports equaled 2 014.4 million (14.2 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 5. 74 million (15.7 percent higher),- according to the preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The negative trade balance was USD 3,72 million in January-April 2025 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 48.1 percent.
In January-April 2025 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 80.2 percent.
The top partners were :
- Kyrgyzstan (USD 450.0 million)
- Kazakhstan (USD 258.4 million)
- Azerbaijan (USD 215.1 million)
In January-April 2025 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 69.9 percent.
The top trading partners were:
- Türkiye (USD 914.3 million)
- USA (USD 902.0 million)
- Russia (USD 859.1 million)
In January-April 2025 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 753.9 million with 37.4 percent of total exports. The exports of precious metal ores and concentrates totaled USD 96.3 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 4.8 percent. The exports of spirituous beverages occupied the third place standing at USD 76.5 million and constituting 3.8 percent of the total exports.
The largest import commodity group in January-April 2025 was represented by passenger cars, the imports of which amounted to $966.4 million and 16.8% of all imports. Pictures, drawings and pastels (hand-made) are in second place with $481.1 million (8.4% of imports), and petroleum and petroleum products are in third place with $396.5 million (6.9% of imports).
