Tbilisi (GBC) - In the 2023, compared to the previous year, the volume of business sector turnover increased by 12.6 percent and amounted to 204.6 billion GEL, - according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
As of the document, the increase was observed in the production value of the business sector as well. In the 2023, production value equaled 77.9 billion GEL, which is 8.5 percent more year-on-year.
In the 2023, large businesses generated 66.8 percent of total turnover, while medium size businesses generated 15.3 percent, and 17.9 percent was generated by small business. A distribution was slightly different in case of total production value: 46.1 percent was on large businesses, 24.6 percent - on medium, and 29.3 percent - on small businesses.
In 2023, total purchases of goods and services carried out by enterprises equaled 109.0 billion GEL (year-on-year 7.5 percent more), while the purchase of goods and services for resale amounted to 71.2 billion GEL (year-on-year 8.2 percent more).
In the 2023, the average number of persons employed in business sector equaled 823.6 thousand, which is year-on-year 5.7 percent more. Out of the total number of persons employed, 43.4 percent were female and 56.6 percent were male.
Large businesses employed 40.4 percent of total number of persons, while 19.8 percent were employed by medium, and 39.8 percent - by small businesses. The total number of employees amounted to 771.5 thousands (year-on-year 6.2 percent more).
The total personnel costs of enterprises equaled 17.2 billion GEL (year-on-year 20.7 percent more).
In the 2023, average monthly remuneration of employed persons equaled 1 827.3 GEL (221.4 GEL increase year-on-year) while remuneration of employed women specifically was 1 445.3 GEL (181.3 GEL increase year-on-year).

In the 2023, the trade sector (including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) has the highest share (38.0 percent) in the total turnover in business sector, followed by arts, entertainment and recreation with 31.4 percent share, manufacturing - with 7.8 percent, construction - with 5.9 percent, transportation and storage - with 4.6 percent, and other sectors - with 12.3 percent share.
In the 2023, trade (19.7 percent) and manufacturing (19.5 percent), construction (17.3 percent), and transportation and storage (9.1 percent) held the top four places in business sector by production value. Rest of sectors had 34.4 percent share.
