Tbilisi (GBC) - The country's foreign exchange reserves decreased by more than $155 million in January. The decline was also noted in December. According to NBG's "Monthly Review", net foreign assets decreased by about $112 million.

According to the NBG, as of 01.02.2024, reserve assets amounted to USD 4.853 billion, including foreign currency reserves of USD 4.4 billion.

The decline in reserve assets has also been reduced year-on-year. As of 01.02.2023, it amounted to $4.899 billion.

Reserves were reduced by the government's foreign exchange expenses, including debt servicing. Also, as mentioned in the review of the NBG, the lowering of the reserve requirements by the National Bank in December also reduced the balance on the reserve accounts.
