Tbilisi (GBC) - Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told TV "Imedi “ on July 29 that “we should do everything to increase the quality of well-being”. According to him, it is necessary to maintain peace, and if there is peace, there will be an increase in the quality of well-being and European integration. "In the first year alone, Ukraine had a 30% drop in its economy, which is a picture of our 90s," said Irakli Kobakhidze.

In the program, he also spoke about the opposition, non-governmental organizations and the President of Georgia.

As the Prime Minister pointed out, the war directly means not only the interruption of economic growth, but also the worst economic crisis.

"You saw the same thing that the war brought to Ukraine. It is not only the 10 thousand dead people, not only the other severe humanitarian problems that the country faced, it is not only the 10 million displaced persons and refugees that Ukraine received, it is, along with everything else, the most severe economic problems," said the Prime Minister

According to him, the reason why Georgia manages to maintain a high economic growth rate is that we have a 12-year period of continuous peace.

"Although we went through 2 crises, a global crisis, a regional crisis during this period. The first was the crisis related to the first war in Ukraine in 2015-2016, the economy decreased in dollar terms, at least in practically all countries around us, the second crisis was related to Covid. However, we managed to increase our country's economy from 28 billion to 90 billion. Accordingly, the country's budget has increased by three times," said Kobakhidze.

Kobakhidze promised that the next year's budget will be 3 times more than the country had in 2012. According to him, continuous peace is one of the main factors that lead to economic growth.

Kobakhidze also spoke about the opposition and said, "If we had followed the scenario proposed by the opposition, of course, it would have led to an economic crisis and a serious economic decline, in addition to other serious problems. Those who understand the concept of EU enlargement must first reach a certain level of prosperity and Only then will you be accepted into the European Union. This is the policy of the European Union. First there is prosperity and then European integration, not the other way around," said the head of the government.

Kobakhidze did not spare a word or two about the President of Georgia and noted that in his opinion, Salome Zourabichvili is an ordinary puppet of the collective "National Movement", a small, simple puppet, she has no more role to play.

The Prime Minister also drew attention to non-governmental organizations and said that NGOs, together with political parties, are directly involved in election campaigning with the opaque money they receive from donors. Georgian politics cannot be financed from outside the country with opaque money, because in his opinion, this is a violation of constitutional principles.

"I can tell you with full responsibility that elections are held on October 26 and no organization will be closed by October 26," – Kobakhidze told TV "Imedi ".
