Tbilisi (GBC) - Corruption cases are increasing in the regions of Georgia, which are becoming uncontrolled, since the relevant structures either do not respond to them at all, or do not provide information to the public about their interest in these cases, "Transparency International - Georgia" reports.

According to their information, "the abundance and scale of corruption facts gives rise to the feeling that the green light has been given to the privileged people to enrich themselves at the expense of the people in this country."

"Transparency International - Georgia" is a map of corruption, where the companies related to officials and Bidzina Ivanishvili are marked, which in the last 10 years in different regions of Georgia, in total, received large contracts up to 2 billion 150 million GEL from state buyers.

The abundance and scale of corruption facts gives rise to the feeling that enrichment for the privileged at the expense of the people has been given the green light in this country.

The document collects those suspicious tenders and simplified procurements that "Transparency International - Georgia" investigated at different times and officially addressed the relevant state structures to respond to the alleged corruption facts that were found in these procurements.

According to regions, the picture of purchases containing signs of corruption looks like this: Adjara - 736 469 823 GEL; Kakheti - 421,000,000 GEL; Samtskhe-Javakheti - 409 441 633 GEL; Shida Kartli - 353 199 362 GEL; Imereti - 131 994 071 GEL; Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 96 703 744 GEL.

On the map of corruption, you will see MPs who have become local "feudals": Anzor Bolkvadze, Viktor Japaridze, as well as former MPs - Ioseb Makrakhidze, Enzel Mkoiani, Jumber Izoria. The mayors of various municipalities are here, including the mayor of Senaki, Vakhtang Gadelia, the mayor of Zugdidi, Mamuka Tsotseria, the former mayor of Akhaltsikhe, Zaza Melikidze, members of local councils and heads of various municipal services of the city hall.

In addition to companies related to officials and their family members, the document includes companies that are personally connected to Bidzina Ivanishvili and various clan groups:

Dimitri Tateshvili's company "Aral" implements Bidzina Ivanishvili's planned projects in Abastumani, and after getting closer to Bidzina Ivanishvili, it received 363 million GEL income from state purchases alone. 65% of this amount comes in the last 2 years.

the so-called "Serpentine" company is part of "Kakhuri clan", which received more than 254 million GEL in state purchases in the last 10 years. Today, the company is headed by the former Deputy Secretary of the Crisis Management Council, Giorgi Zedelashvili, who is close to the former Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili.

The companies of Batumi City Council member Levan Dolidze and his father, former City Council member Nukri Dolidze, received more than 238 million GEL from state procurement. More than 74% of this amount - under conditions of non-competition, disqualification of rival companies and simplified agreements.

Giorgi Chkonia is a businessman close to the government and a big donor to "Georgian Dream". In 2011-2023, it received 335,638,719 GEL as income from state purchases.

The participation of these and other companies in large state purchases and their subsequent involvement in financing the ruling political force creates a system of state capture and kleptocratic rule in the country.

We first offered the corruption map to the public before the 2021 local government elections. At that time, the sum totaled 665 million GEL. In the past 2 years, the amount of alleged corrupt purchases investigated by our regional offices has increased by almost one and a half billion GEL.

Thus, corruption cases are increasing in the regions of Georgia, which are becoming uncontrolled, because the relevant structures either do not respond to them at all, or they do not provide the public with information about their interest in these cases," the information says.
