Tbilisi (GBC) – Tender announced for the Gardabani 3 thermal power station has been extended for the fourth time. According to the statement published by the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, the deadline for the end of the auction has been postponed once again, this time to February 29, 2024.

The description of the competition has also changed. While previously investors could submit proposals at any time before the deadline, under the new condition, they must send proposals to GOGC between February 22 and February 29, 2024.

Proposals must be submitted electronically only from February 22, 2024 to February 29, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. (local time), the statement said.

The validity period of the bank guarantee was also extended and it was determined for the interested companies until March 2024.

In May 2023, it was decided to announce an auction for the construction of an energy-efficient combined cycle thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 350-430 MW in the municipality of Gardabani.

The construction of the 272 MW combined cycle 3rd thermal power plant in Gardabani municipality was planned, however, due to the trend of significantly increasing electricity consumption and the shortage of generation sources, the issue of the construction and commissioning of a higher power (350-430 MW) thermal power plant in the near future was on the agenda.
