Tbilisi (GBC) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan spoke at the opening panel of the ongoing Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi on October 22 about the importance of economic projects and peace in the Caucasus region, noting that "on the basis of the Washington Summit, peace has already been established between Azerbaijan and Armenia - we are working to move peace with Azerbaijan to a more institutional level." Pashinyan added that "Armenia is politically ready to ensure transit from the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic to the main territory of Azerbaijan and vice versa from today."

The Armenian Prime Minister said that it is a great honor for him to participate in the international event called the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum for the second time.

"As its name suggests, this event has already become an important platform for officials from different countries, representatives of the private sector, international experts who share new ideas with each other. As a result of this platform, a peace project was implemented between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which in principle turned into a support mechanism," Pashinyan said.

According to him, the project was supported by many international partners, because it is important to develop regional and international, transport and communication opportunities not only through Armenia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, but also by opening borders with them.

"I am happy to confirm that we have achieved great success in this direction. In August 2025, at the initiative of the US President, a peace agreement was signed in Washington between me and the President of Azerbaijan, which was also signed by Donald Trump. This declaration specifically concerns regional communication. We state in that declaration that we emphasize the importance of communication, interaction, dialogue in bilateral and international formats," Pashinyan said.

According to the Armenian Prime Minister, efforts are being made to ensure unlimited connectivity between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic through the territory of the Republic of Armenia. According to him, this is a bilateral relationship for international and interstate connectivity.

"Azerbaijan is already lifting restrictions on the movement of goods through its territory to our country, and this was announced yesterday by President Aliyev. I thank him for this step and decision. I welcome this initiative. I am also pleased to say that we have a positive dialogue between Turkey and our republic, which ensures that our border will be opened. I would also like to confirm that we are not only politically but also technically ready for the transit of goods from today," Nikol Pashinyan added.

According to Pashinyan, starting today, we can carry out cargo movement using the territory of the Republic of Armenia. According to him, the land and border infrastructure is ready for this.

"We are politically ready to ensure transit from the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic to the main territory of Azerbaijan and vice versa. We are already politically ready to ensure rail transit from the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Turkey, and the main territory of Azerbaijan. The railway needs reconstruction in these fragments. I am sure and I assure you that these technical issues will be resolved within two to three years, in the near future, and the electricity network will also be established from Azerbaijan to the territories of Armenia, via Nakhichevan," Pashinyan noted.

The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum is being held for the fifth time on October 22-23 and is being attended by about 2,000 delegates.

The forum is a key platform for dialogue and cooperation to strengthen regional and global connectivity.
