Tbilisi (GBC) - The National Bank of Georgia published a report about current tendencies of resident commercial banks loan portfolio and deposits as of October 2023.

The volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in October 2023 increased by 953.05 million GEL or by 1.94% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 1.55%) and constituted 50.12 billion GEL by the end of October 2023. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 431.98 million GEL (1.60%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 521.07 million GEL or by 2.36% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 1.49%).

By the end of October 2023, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 8.21 billion GEL (2.51% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 14.04 billion GEL (1.43% more; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 0.57%).

During October 2023, the volume of lending to resident household sector  increased by 1.06% or 275.01 million GEL, and constituted 26.12 billion GEL by the end of October 2023.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 54.82% by the end of October 2023 and decreased by 0.18 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 0.03 percentage point), compared to the end of September 2023.
