Tbilisi (GBC) - Officers from the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained the dry cargo ship HASKAL, sailing under the Mongolian flag, for violating navigation rules in Georgia’s territorial waters, the body announced on Friday.
Following the detention, officers from the Main Operational-Investigative Department of the Border Police initiated legal proceedings against the ship’s captain, an Azerbaijani citizen, who was fined ₾10,000 ($3,500).
After settling the penalty, authorities permitted the vessel to resume its voyage.
