Tbilisi (GBC) - One of the main activities of the Agency Of Protected Areas of Georgia is the protection/restoration of biodiversity in an intact state.

Within the mentioned framework, the budget of the Agency of Protected Areas will be spent on the improvement of the management system of protected areas and the protection/restoration of biodiversity in 2023. It is the exceptional biodiversity of Georgia that makes each protected area attractive and special.

In 2023,  it is planned to fight against pests to maintain the health of forests at least 8 protected areas.

"In 2022, the Agency of Protected Areas carried out a forest inventory in the municipalities of Tetritskaro, Akhalkalaki and Lagodekhi, on a total area of 33,665 hectares, as well as in the Erusheti National Park and Tetrobis Agkvetili. Forest management plans have been developed and approved for the protected areas of Lagodekhi State Reserve, Lagodekhi Obvetili, Algeti and Javakheti, which will help the Agency to implement sustainable forest management in the target municipalities in the future. This year, in order to strengthen the monitoring of biodiversity, the Agency purchased 294 photo traps for all protected areas," the Agency of Protected Areas states.
