Tbilisi (GBC) - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday said the country’s “high” economic growth and “fiscal consolidation” in the first two quarters of the year had led to GEL 519 million increase in the state budget.

Kobakhidze added the funds would be distributed as follows:

  • The Ministry of Health will receive an additional - GEL115 million
  • Municipalities – GEL 102 million
  • The Ministry of Defence - GEL100 million
  • The Ministry of Education – GEL 80 million
  • Disaster relief efforts – GEL 60 million
  • The Ministry of Culture and Sports – GEL 33 million
  • The Ministry of Internal Affairs – GEL 10 million
  • Regional development and infrastructure – GEL 10 million
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs – GEL 6 million
  • The Central Election Commission – GEL 3 million 

 

The Georgian economy grew by 9.2 percent year-on-year in May, while the average real gross domestic product growth for the first five months equalled 9.3 percent, the National Statistics Office said.
