Tbilisi (GBC) - To strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Bank of Georgia and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
The National Bank of Georgia released this information, stating that the agreement was signed by the President of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, and the President of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Taleh Kazimov.
According to the memorandum, the parties agree to cooperate in the regulation and supervision of the financial sectors of both countries, including financial technologies, monetary policy, payment systems, and the securities market. The memorandum also provides for the exchange of experience and information on a mutually supportive basis.
"We have a close partnership with the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. It is important that economic relations and trade between our two countries are strengthening, and the banking and financial sector must follow these trends.
During my meeting with my Azerbaijani colleague, we agreed to enhance cooperation in key areas, including the integration of payment systems. This will enable our banking sector to facilitate trade flows and transactions between the two countries efficiently and with high quality.
Additionally, collaboration in fintech, financial technologies, and cybersecurity is essential. Given the common challenges in our region, it is crucial to exchange perspectives, experiences, and information on macroeconomic forecasts.
We hope that the next visit will be planned in Tbilisi, and my Azerbaijani colleague will visit the National Bank of Georgia," said Natia Turnava.
